Hello folks
I am intrigued by DTP and would like to take it for a test drive. I need
some help getting it up and running:
I am running
o Mac OS X 10.4.8
o java version "1.5.0_06"
o Eclipse 3.2.1 build M20060921-0945
This provides the recommended base for the latest stable build of DTP (1.0
M2). This all works fine
I then proceeded to download DTP 1.0 M2 SDK (including source and
JavaDocs). I notice it requires EMF 2.2.1 and GEF 3.2.1.
Using the Eclipse install manager, I install EMF and GEF (the recommended
versions). Eclipse->Help->About->Features validates these components are
correctly installed.
Here is where I falter. I download DTP 1.0 M2 SDK. This de-compresses to
an Eclipse directory. Lacking a sufficient readme type of document, I
assume I copy the plugins and features folders into my Eclipse
installation. I also follow the instructions to install the LPG run-time.
Is this the best way to install DTP 1.0 M2?
The "Getting Started" guide
(http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Getting_Started_with_DTP), which I
would like to follow misses some details regarding installation.
Following the steps in the guide, I cannot see the "Database Development"
perspective as an option which leads me to believe I have failed to
install properly all the bits an pieces.
Where am I going wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time
Jason
