Why 3 columns in Properties View? [message #546046]

My question is rather silly, but I'm wondering why is there three columns in the Properties view if only two are used? Is to keep the first two columns from resizing when the view is resized? Wouldn't it be better if the second column expanded as the view resized.

Is there any way I can override that behaviour in my rcp application?
