how can rcp application prompt the user to specify a workspace directory [message #545768]

We have a feature based rcp application.
Followed the tutorial for eclipse pde build and created a zip file that extracts and runs correctly, but does not prompt for a workspace directory. The default assumed is the installed directory.
How can the prompt for specifying the workspace directory be restored?
