Mylyn 3.4 Ganymede apache.logging dep problem [message #543617] Wed, 30 June 2010 04:56 Go to next message

I use Mylyn within an ganymede eclipse installation. Have been using 3.3.3 happily. Tried to do an update seeing that 3.4 is available.

Fails to install with an unsatisfied dependency on apache.logging ...

Quote:
Cannot find a solution satisfying the following requirements org.apache.commons.logging [1.0.4.v201005080501].

For the life of me I can't figure out how to fix this dependency problem (including just downloading the jar and putting it in the eclipse plugins dir).

Any help appreciated ...

Is this comment from the 3.4RC1 announcement still applicable ...?

Eclipse 3.4 users, please note that the weekly site is now a composite site
which is not supported on Eclipse 3.4. You can use the archive site
directly:

Probably no, as when I try and include it in my update sites, it complains that there is no repository behind the url!

Are there any known issues with Mylyn 3.4 and Ganymede? Anyone?

It is very likely that the error is not directly related to
org.apache.commons.logging but caused by a conflict or failed resolution of
other bundles.

Which repository are you using to install Mylyn?

Only the weekly sites do not work with Eclipse 3.4 any longer. The main
update site at http://download.eclipse.org/tools/mylyn/update/e3.4 should
still work.

Integration builds are purged from the archive once a release version is
available. You can find links for the Mylyn 3.4 archive site here at
http://eclipse.org/mylyn/builds/ but you can also use the site mentioned
above which contains the same content.

Thanks for attending to my issue Steffen.

Sadly I have tried both update sites indicated by you below.

Both fail.

I will step back, take a breath, get a clean ganymed install happening and have another go. Just to remove the possibility of the current install being screwed up by something I did earlier - though I doubt it.

Thanks,
Will be back to you asap.

Still had the problem on a fresh eclipse 3.4 install.

I found that I had to install mylyn 3.3 from the archive downloads then do an eclipse update to get mylyn 3.4 in place.

Still have no clue why a fresh install would not work.

My clean build with Mylyn 3.3.3 and Jira connector 2.10 now complains when trying to do an update ... the log file has ...

Mylyn 3.4 just will not go in. Additional question, does mylyn 3.4 need atlassian connector 2.2.0 or can it still work with 2.1.0?

I was able to install Mylyn 3.4 into a fresh Eclipse SDK 3.4.2.

I am not sure. The JIRA Connector has moved to Atlassian. I would recommend
to ask your question in their support forum:

Steffen,

Thanks for the help, followed through with Atlassian Support and there are issues with the connector. 2.2.0 is no longer supported on eclipse 3.4 and 2.1.0 isn't compatible with Mylyn 3.4.

So, I stay on Mylyn 3.3.3 until I am able to move on from eclipse 3.4 ...

Regards,
Warwick Baker.
