Hello,

While working on RCP products, you will definitely need to release different versions of your product (plugins).

I have seen many tutorials talking about how to use the qualifier in automated build scripts, my question here is once you want to change the <major>.<minor>.<patch>, is there an automated way to do so?

For example, if I want to change all my plugin versions from 1.0.0 to 1.1.0 do I need to do this manually in the plugins and their dependencies, or is there an automated way?

I am using PDE build with Ant.

It's manual. Each segment implies a different level of change, and it
is change to the software that will require change to the bundle
version. This is the scheme Eclipse itself uses:

If you enable API Analysis (API Tooling) and set an API baseline for
your workspace, the API tooling will tell you when you need to bump the
minor and service segments.

Thanks a lot Paul for the Informative reply.

My question now is not regarding, when to change the versions, but rather, how to change them?

Is there a way to automatically change all plugins in the workspace to a certain version (at the start of a dev cycle for example if this is our policy)?
