I am trying to download the source code for ECF using the Project Set File referenced from http://www.eclipse.org/projects/project_summary.php?projecti d=rt.ecf

I get several errors while trying to import this file and wind up with an incomplete set of projects.

Specifically, the following errors occur:

1. The server reported an error while performing the "cvs-expand-module command.
cvs version cannot find module "org.eclipse.ecf/compendium/bundles/org.ecf.osgi.services" - ignored

2. Pat way through, Eclipse warns that project org.eclipse.ecf.releng exists in the workspace. If I choose to overwrite it, Eclipse complains that only partial repository information is supplied and suggests sources for complete information.

3. Further along I get Eclipse complaining about being unable to delete files from org.eclipse.ecf.presence.ui\bin.

The final result of all this is that I wind up with an incomplete set of ECF projects.

I am using a brand new installation of Eclipse-RCP M6 and a brand new workspace, running on Windows 7 Professional with Sun JDK 1.6.0_20.

Any suggestions as to how I can resolve this issue?

Hi Jonathan,

that project set file is pretty much outdated. Please use the one which
can be found at CVS
pserver:anonymous@dev.eclipse.org :/cvsroot/rt,org.eclipse.ecf/releng/org.eclipse.ecf.releng/p rojectSet-anonymous.psf.

Guess we should remove the old version from the projects page and rather
link to viewcvs instead.

Hi Jonathan,

Yes as Markus said the link is stale...as it predates the ecf releng
project...and I forgot about it's existence. My apologies for that.

I've updated the link to point to the one in the releng project, as
suggested by Markus.

Thanks,

Scott

I discovered that if I try to download and use the .psf file from ViewCvs, I get the same problems and endless loop trying to delete resources. The only way I have been able to get Eclipse to accept the .psf file is to checkout the org.eclipse.ecf.releng project from the CVS repository and then access the .psf file in that project on my local machine.

This happens while installing into a brand new workspace.

Hi Jonathan,

Ok...viewcvs must be doing something to the psf file. I've modified the
project set file link so that it points to the dev resources
page...which describes how to load the releng project and get/load the
project set file:

http://www.eclipse.org/ecf/dev_resources.php

Thanks,

Scott

Uhm, I am receiving an "auth fail" error following the steps given in the dev_resources page (with user "anonymous" and password blank). Theoretically I am in a open network without strange port configurations and so.

Two days ago I posted the following thread in "Newcomers" forum, but another user adviced me to post here.

Hi all.

I'm trying to download source code of the examples of this wiki page http://wiki.eclipse.org/Getting_the_Hello_Example_Service

However, following the given steps (downloading the Hello.psf file and all that stuff) I receive a "connection reset" error. The default user in the login window is "anonymous" and I leave the password in blank.

Anybody knows why I can't download them? Or... if somebody could give me these examples in a .zip or something I really appreciate that favor :)

Could these two cvs problems be related? Thanks in advance!

Pablo,

Hmmm. The anonymous access works ok for me just now.

Are you using this as repo:

:pserver:anonymous@dev.eclipse.org:/cvsroot/rt

You should be able to copy the line above and then Paste Connection into
the CVS Repositories view. Then you should be able to browse into the
appropriate module (i.e. org.eclipse.ecf/examples/bundles).

After trying this again, if you are still having problems then I would
suggest sending an email to webmaster at eclipse.org. We/ECF does not
administer this CVS server and so cannot control that aspect of things.

Whops, It seems it works now. The problem was the @ in the url I was using, the right one is

:pserver:anonymous@dev.eclipse.org:/cvsroot/rt

Now I am goint to test the Remote Service examples. Thanks, Scott! :D
