GEF documentation and examples is lacking - we need a GEF WIKI! [message #525453] |

I've been working with GEF for a few months now and have come to realise
how powerful it is and yet I, and others, really struggle to find out
how to do some things. The resources I have used are:
1. The IBM Red Book
2. The "Shapes", "Logic" and "Flow" examples that come with the SDK.
3. Any other GEF apps I can "borrow" ideas from.
4. This forum.
Some of these resources are out of date.
An example - I wanted to animate my figures. It took me ages to figure
it out based on the "Logic" example and much Googling. OK, I did it in
the end but a simple "snippet" would have saved me hours of frustration.
Let's face it, GEF is hard. We need snippets, examples, ideas and tips
all in one Wiki! I am prepared to contribute what I know and have
discovered about GEF from hours of blood, sweat and tears.
But who would host such a Wiki? Would the Eclipse foundation be interested?
If there is enough feedback to this post perhaps I could open a Bugzilla
request?

Hi,
Ah thanks for that info, I hadn't realised that Wiki was editable by the
public!
I wonder what would be the best format for such information? I was
thinking of a "Snippets and Examples" page rather than full articles.
Maybe add a "Snippets and Examples" page to the front page?
