Hi,
As far as I understood you're looking for description of icons used for
visualizing .ecore models.
For those you'd better look at EMF Docs
http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/emf/docs/
Alternatively you can explore org.eclipse.emf.ecore.edit_xxx.jar
plug-in. It contains ./icons/full/obj16 folder where images with
self-described names are located (EClass.gif, EPackage.gif, ..).
As for Metamodel Explorer it utilizes ItemProviderAdapterFactory for
metamodels visualization and custom metamodels can provide their own
images for elements.
