I'm thinking of buying a new laptop and of course it will have Windows 7
on it. What are the issues in using Eclipse in a Windows 7 system. There
must be runtime issues regarding the SWT in addition to requiring a JDK
that supports win64?
Must I get the upgrade to Windows professional so I can run the old XP
environment? In addition, I haven't found any open source tools like
notepad++ or winmerge that support the windows 7 OS. Does anyone know if
those are in the works?
For the pure Java applications (Tomcat, Derby, etc...) am I safe with a
x64 JDK? I would appreciate any warning you might want to offer. I hate
venturing into the unknown while supporting a new development contract.
By the way, which JDK do I use if I have the Intel Dual T6600 processor.
Does anyone have the download URL?

Make sure to take the latest 6.0 JRE/SDK and the latest Eclipse 3.5.x or
3.6 build as we've identified and fixed some major issues. With those
fixes the Eclipse SDK should run fine.
