Hi,

I am trying to profile a Liferay (tomcat + webapp) application, but I have no success yet.

If I try to profile a clean tomcat, it works fine, I have the statistics I need.

But when I'm trying to profile a tomcat with the liferay webapp, I have some problems. The main difference between the first and this version is that the server startup time is 85 sec not 1 sec, and of course it's using more memory.

Everything seems nice with the startup, but I get no data, only 850 bytes are processed always.

Do you have any idea what's wrong?

Versions:
* Eclipse: 3.5.1
* TPTP: 4.6.1
* Tomcat standalone: 6.0.20, with liferay 6.0.18
* JDK: 1.6.0.15
* Ubuntu linux 9.10

Thanks for your help,
Zsolt

Hi Zsolt,

Does the default filter setting exlcude any pacakge data in your
application?
Ware you profiling with memory analysis or execution analysis?

Hi Eugene,

I was using execution analysis, and my filter was excluding nothing. I used the same configuration for both application servers, so I should have seen the tomcat methods at the second version too, but there were nothing. Sad

Thanks,
Zsolt

Hi Zsolt,

I think your Liferay version is a typo - latest/current is 5.2.3.

You say Tomcat standalone - does this mean you have downloaded a vanilla Tomcat and deployed a liferay-portal-5.2.3.war to it?

How are you launching Liferay portal - is it a standard WTP launch?

Best
Brett

Hi Zsolt,

Does the second profile run came up fine with the long startup time? Does it
fail to start?
