Hello,

This mail is intended to give some technical details about the Eclipse RCP part of the Bonita Open Solution, announced in a former mail by Miguel Valdes.

The Bonita Open Solution is made of 3 parts: the workflow runtime engine, the Studio (modeler) and the User Experience (web application application for final users). The Studio is actually an Eclipse RCP application which uses GMF to implement a BPMN modeler.
The product development is focused on ease of use and prettiness. Thus a lot of efforts are done for customization and branding.

More technically, it leverages several Eclipse projects (Platform, EMF, M2M, GMF, Jetty, PDE-build...) to bundle up this BPMN modeler.

You can already take a look at and play with the preview at http://www.bonitasoft.com. Upcoming features for final release are a (GMF-based) Form Editor and ability to write some code for connectors in Studio using JDT, and also (over and over again) improved ease-of-use.

During the development of this application, we try to contribute back to Eclipse through bug reports, patches and newsgroup activity; and we would like to get more and more involved in projects we use when we get more time to spend on them.

We would also love to get feedback from Eclipse community on this preview, then if you are interested, feel free to come on Bonita Forum (http://www.bonitasoft.org/forum/) to tell us what you thin about it ;)

Regards,

The BonitaSoft Studio developers
