drawing sequence diagram [message #486009] Tue, 15 September 2009 17:23 Go to next message

This must be a silly question, but after I draw in a "message" between two
"lifelines", how to I change the visible text over the message arrow?

I tried changing the "name" property of the message, but it does not
display.

My message arrows all have text more or less like: 1: *

... forwarding to UML2 Tools newsgroup.

Although I suspect this is a question specific to UML2 Tools, did you try:
- Select the message, then start typing.
- Select the message, then from the toolbar, select "All Connector Labels"
or "No Connector Labels" to hide or show all labels associated with
connectors.

Regards,
- James.

I tried those things - no luck. I'm pretty sure it's because my message is
between two lifelines. Looking at the OMG spec it looks like messages need
to go between actions.

But you can see from my other post that just drawing an action throws
exceptions.

Hi Bruce,

I'm facing the same problem that you have related here. I filled a bug to get this fixed, bug 292560 - [SequenceDiagram] Message Labels does not display message names (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=292560)

This is to help someone that faces this problem and make it easy to follow the development of it.
