The reason I like Eclipse is so I don't have to program for .NET and
so I can avoid learning serious web stuff like CSS and JavaScript and
AJAX and <insert scripting/declaring stuff du jour>. Yuk!

I downloaded .9 tonight and read through enough of the whitepaper to
find ... is it really necessary to go from a platform to coding CSS and
<gasp> Javascript?

PC's get cheaper and more powerful and cheaper every year.

Did I miss something? What happened to ... Eclipse, RCP, SWT, thick
client rules?

How are we supposed to build a complex, near real time application like
oh let's say a hardware chip debugger by tying together pieces of CSS,
Javascript and who know what else, oh yeah, throw some AJAX and Web 2.0
in there for good measure?

e4 will be much more modular than Eclipse 3.5 stream, and e4 is all about removing some of the restrictions placed on RCP developers ... but in your case you wouldn't pull in the Ajax/CSS/Web 2.0 stuff (it's not relevant to your application).

I guess I hadn't looked at it like removing restrictions but it
makes more sense in that light. Thanks.
