Hello,
I am struggling at step on of using uml2tools. I downloaded and unpacked
Eclipse 3.4M5 for windows. I then started it up and acquired the UML
Tools 2 plugin via the Ganymede Discovery Site (I told the update manager
to download required plugins).
I restarted eclipse and see that the org.eclipse.uml2tools feature
(version 0.80) is listed when I do Help > About Eclipse SDK and click
Feature Details. I also did a Help > Software Updates > Manage
Configuration and verified the "UML2 Tools SDK (Incubation)" had a "this
feature is configured properly" status.
Unfortunately, when I try to add a diagram to the java project open in my
workspace (via File > New > Other) I don't see an "Other" folder that
contains reference to the "UML 2.1" diagram like I expect to see per the
Wiki.
Am I doing something wrong. I just want to make a test state diagram.
Also, I don't see any errors in the Eclipse error log.
Any help appreciated.
James

I cannot answer for James, but I too have this problem.
It doesn't matter if I use "CTRL-N" or "right-click, New, Other". I get
the same dialog and I cannot find a "UML 2.1 Diagrams" option. The
closest is "UML Model" under "Example EMF Model Creation Wizards", but
subsequent dialogs don't match thoose the Lars Vogel's tutorial.
I started with the "Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers" download (today, 4th
April 2008) and then added the UML2 Tools and its dependencies.
Thus I have:
Eclipse Platform Version: 3.3.2
UML2 Tools Version: 0.7.101

I just spotted that Lars recommends downloading the whole of the "Models
and Model Development" hierarchy. I tried at suddenly I get the "UML 2.1
Diagrams" option just where it should be. I guess the wizard is defined
in one of the other plugins.

Hi James,
Is the problem still actual?
'File > New > Other' is available by 'Ctrl+N' key binding, 'wizard' text
editor allows us to find required wizard.
So, try 'Ctrl+N' and then write down 'UMLClass' in the 'wizards' text editor.
Does it help?
Good luck,
Tatiana.

hi,
yes I seems that it is necessary to add the following additional plugins
from the "Models and Model Develpment" category:
- EMF - Eclipse Modeling Framework Runtime and Tools
- Graphical Modeling Framework Runtime
- UML2 Diagram Search Feature
- UML2 Search
I did not understand the new Update Manager in Ganymede.
I run into problems more than once :-(

Hey there, am having the same problem.
It seems like you've found the solution, but I can't find those particular
files you listed. Can you please provide a link to the download page?

I think the information on the wiki is incorrect.
The name of the feature to download is "UML2 Diagramming", not
"UML2Tools". After installing this single feature, the "UML 2.1 Diagrams"
node appears (with 8 diagram types) in the "New..." wizard. It is not
necessary to install the SDK!
This is listed in the "Software Updates... -> Available Software" tab
rather unhelpfully under the "Ganymede -> Uncategorized" node! No wonder
people are having trouble finding it...
Cheers,
Steffan
