Hi,
The posted Eclipse 3.4 Project Plan
( http://www.eclipse.org/eclipse/development/eclipse_project_p lan_3_4.html)
shows the following release schedule:
Release milestones, occurring at roughly 6 week intervals, exist to
facilitate coarse-grained planning and staging. The milestones are:
* Friday Aug. 10, 2007 - Milestone 1 (3.4 M1) - stable build
* Friday Sep. 21, 2007 - Milestone 2 (3.4 M2) - stable build
* Friday Nov. 2, 2007 - Milestone 3 (3.4 M3) - stable build
* Friday Dec. 14, 2007 - Milestone 4 (3.4 M4) - stable build
* Friday Feb. 8, 2008 - Milestone 5 (3.4 M5) - stable build
I'm assuming this is still the schedule.
Is there a list of the new UA features that are targeted to come out in
the M3 milestone?
I've done a Bugzilla query on User Assistance and 3.4 M3 and 3.4 M4, and
there are few items listed in each:
3.4 M3 query:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/buglist.cgi?query_format=advan ced&short_desc_type=allwordssubstr&short_desc=&c lassification=Eclipse&product=Platform&component=Use r+Assistance&version=3.4&target_milestone=3.4+M3& ;long_desc_type=allwordssubstr&long_desc=&bug_file_l oc_type=allwordssubstr&bug_file_loc=&status_whiteboa rd_type=allwordssubstr&status_whiteboard=&keywords_t ype=allwords&keywords=&emailtype1=substring&emai l1=&emailtype2=substring&email2=&bugidtype=inclu de&bug_id=&votes=&chfieldfrom=&chfieldto=Now &chfieldvalue=&cmdtype=doit&order=Reuse+same+sor t+as+last+time&field0-0-0=noop&type0-0-0=noop&va lue0-0-0=
shows 200172 and 204115
3.4 M4 query says Zarro bugs found.
Thanks!

Hi Chris, thanks for this update. I trust your vacation was a good
one--and you're back with creative energy. :-)
Is there any special format in which you want the input from the
community on what features or bugs they want in which milestone?
I mean, I've been reminding people to go into Bugzilla and Vote for the
features and bugs that they want. Should I continue to do that? Are the
most-voted-for entries getting on the UA team's radar in terms of
prioritization?
Request https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=37714 has 16 votes
is still high for a number of adopters, if the votes are any indication.
Thanks,
Lee Anne

Hi Lee Anne,
thanks for finding this bugzilla incantation ;)
I'm particularly interested in 36508. I was about to ask a question
about this.
Here are a couple of search scopes, I'd like to create in the Eclipse SDK:
- "Platform Plug-in Developer Guide > Programmer's Guide > User
assistance support" topics
- "Platform Plug-in Developer Guide > Reference > API Reference" topics
But I can't, because of the 2-level limitation.
So I added a vote for this issue.
I don't know whether the number of votes really determines the priorities.
To the eclipse-ua developers: can you make sure that "3.2.x regression
bugs" in 3.3.x receive a high enough priority during the 3.4
development, regardless of the number of votes?
Here are a few, that I know of:
188090: [Help] [Context] Additional context help does not show up
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=188090
-> this one is a major loss of functionality for us as one of our doc
plugin has several contexts files and a context id may be used in
several contexts files.
187925: [Webapp] Restore possibility to expand TOC items by clicking name
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=187925
-> this one is really annoying
All online help formats I'm familiar with have the expand/collapse toc
functionality by double clicking the "toc item label":
- pdf (bookmarks)
- html help (ie chm files)
- "mozilla help" (ie in Firefox, select Help > Help Contents)
- oracle help for java
- html help 2 (ie hxs files)
194726: [Help] Improve/restore displayHelp command behavior
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=194726
-> a fix for the #2 scenario would be nice to have, as our doc plugins
have a topic attribute on the root toc element of the primary toc.
But I'm aware that not everyone does.
197289: [Help] Search scope / result category problems with topic
attribute on toc element
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=197289
-> same motivation as #194726
As you may have noticed, I'm either the reporter or a commenter for
these issues. So I'm biased ;)
Regards,
Pierre
