New Version of Trademark and Logo Usage Guidelines [message #46852] Tue, 10 July 2007 14:23 Go to next message

All,

I just posted a revised version of this document. This was reviewed and
approved at the June 20th Board meeting.

Please see http://www.eclipse.org/legal/logo_guidelines.php

The main difference is to include project names, acronyms and logos as
Eclipse trademarks. As the policy states:

"The Eclipse Foundation holds the trademarks for the project names and logos
on behalf of, and for the benefit of, the Eclipse projects. The individual
projects are not separate legal entities and thus not able to hold
trademarks individually. The Eclipse Foundation is a legal entity and thus
holds the trademarks on behalf of the projects."

Mike,

Can you clarify what that means in respect to EclipseZone? Do we have to have Eclipse(TM)Zone? Or should we put a footer with a reference to this page?

Alex.

I'm curious about CDT for Windows, too. I probably should be calling it
CDT(TM) for Windows(TM). No one trademarked 'for' did they? :)

I guess EasyEclipse is another example similar to Alex's.

Doug.

Alex, I think it would be nice if you added a reference in a footer that
Eclipse is a trademark of the Eclipse Foundation. I am pretty sure the Java
trademark stipulates something similar.
