Linking of Web Service to Processes [message #374342] Sun, 18 November 2007 05:26 Go to next message

Dear All

After modeling of a process, we should link its activities to the web
services which implement them, but this capability does not exist in STP.
We can model a process in BPMN modeler and also we can implement web
services, but how can we link them? Modeling of a process without
determining its implementation details does not have any value. Is this
capability under construction or its behind the scope of STP (e.g in it is
the responsibility of JWT project).

Thanks,
Arman

Hi Arman,

This capability is in fact under construction in the upcoming STP
Intermediate Model (STP-IM) component. There are transformations
underway (to be submitted soon) such as to convert BPMN models to the IM
and from IM elements to BPEL for instance (Andrea from Engineering, in
CC is working on these particular transformations). Other transformation
targets and sources include JBI and SCA.
You can have a look at
http://wiki.eclipse.org/STP_Intermediate_Metamodel in order to get a
better picture of this. Please note that the version on the website is
only indicative as a more updated version will also be soon committed.

Cooperation with JWT is also envisaged in particular through
transformations between the JWT metamodel and the STP-IM.

Regards,
Adrian.

Indeed, the STP BPMN modeler is exclusively a graphical editor that
produces BPMN diagrams.

My company Intalio has built a product on the BPMN modeler that does
just that.

The JWT project aims at transforming the BPMN model into something
executable, which is a different approach. You should consider asking on
their newsgroup or mailing lists directly for more details.
