Folder/File rights (chwon/chmod) [message #36186] Wed, 24 June 2009 06:02 Go to next message

When I upload or create a new folder or file through RSE ownership and
rights are default set to the user I am logged in as and to 644.

Where do I define what RSE should set?

This is a SSL connection on a FreeBSD OS server.

I'm not quite sure what you question is. With SSH, the user and group
values are based on what you would get from doing an echo $UID and echo $GID
in the shell.

Oh my bad I meant a SSH connection, of cause.

When I import (upload) a file through the RSE explorer, the ownership
(chown) are set to "michael" if that is the user I am signed on as. The
rights (chmod) are set to (0)644 (rw-r-r).

And my question is:
Where in RSE or otherwise do I define what the ownership and rights are
set to, when I use RSE to create or import files or folders?

I believe the ownership and rights should be set to whatever it would be set
to if you tried to create a file from an SSH shell (i.e. via touch) under
the userid that you connected with. RSE does not explicitly change the
rights or ownership after a file has been created on a host.
