I'm doing technical research about graphic modeling solutions. GMF is the most popular one. I surprised to find that GMF plug-in org.eclipse.gmf.runtime.diagram.ui.render depends on Apache batik.

Apache batik package has an unresolved crash issue (e.g. BATIK-666 on issues.apache.org). The root cause is batik uses AWT to render SVG picture. But AWT based GUI doesn't work well on the top of GTK in Linux OS. It leads to sporadic JVM/Eclipse deadlocks or crashes.

Does anyone meet same issue when using GMF? If yes, any solution of it?
