LocationTech: for Place and Purpose

LocationTech is a working group hosted by the Eclipse Foundation. It focuses on location aware technologies. These technologies are often used for mapping or navigation, however they are also a crucial part of data analysis.

To begin, Andrew Ross shares a reflection from working group participants in a LocationTech Manifesto article. Robert Cheetham and Paul Ramsey tell us more about the GeoTrellis and GeoGig projects, respectively. These projects were featured in the March 2014 issue and continue to grow quickly. Finally, Geoff Zeiss explores interest for open source technologies by utilities.

The program for EclipseCon 2015 and FOSS4G NA 2015 have been announced! Register by Dec. 31 for the lowest price.

Happy Holidays to one and all!
