You indeed need J2EE (and Tomcat or another Servlet container to run the
JSPs and Servlets).
There's no problem using JDK 5.0 with J2EE, I'm doing it all the time and
so do many others I'm sure.

Mind that Eclipse has no syntax highlighting of JSP by default, you will
need to add a plugin for that (there's several, both free and commercial).
