Automatic update of bundles.properties file? [message #120374] Thu, 30 October 2008 15:38
Eclipse UserFriend
Hi all,

I am encountering a weird problem with Eclipse 3.4.1: usually, I install
features from update sites, but in those cases where there is no update
site I copy the relevant files directly into the plugins and features
folders inside Eclipse. This used to work just fine, but since I moved to
Ganymede the features installed in that fashion do no longer get
recognized automatically. However, I figured out that if I manually add
the bundles to the bundles.properties file in
configuration/org.eclipse.equinox.simpleconfigurator the bundles are
usually recognized. Now, this can become quite annoying after a while, so
I am wondering two things:

(1) is there something wrong with my setup? this way of installing new
plugins worked fine in 3.3
(2) is there some other recommended way of installing plugins and/or
features that just come as a collection of files and don't have a proper
update site?

Thanks,

Mirko
