update manager and proxy authentication [message #299372] Wed, 15 February 2006 13:33
Eclipse UserFriend
Has anyone tried to use eclipse with a proxy server that requires
authentication?

Eclipse doesn't have a preference page to set the username/password to
use, so the user is prompted to provide it every time a new http
connection is made. For my installation this means that I have to enter
these details more than 50 times to scan for updates.

This is very important for corporate users (those that use microsoft
products like ISA proxy server) especially now that the Callisto release
main delivery mechanism will be based on the update manager many.

I have opened this bug
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=123108 to track this a
month ago but no luck.
