Feature dependencies when using Update Manager [message #296192] Fri, 16 December 2005 11:25 Go to next message

My plugin depends on GEF. When i create a feature for my plugin, i included
GEF in its dependency list. With just including GEF in the dependency list,
during installation, the Update Manager displays an error message that my
plugin requires org.eclipse.gef. However, no information is provided to the
user as to where he can get GEF from.

So, can i set up my feature manifest so that GEF will also be downloaded
automatically when installing my feature & plugin?

It's not done automatically, but you should be able to hit the "Add
required features" button and it should pick GEF up from the main
eclipse update site.

yes. you are right. Provided i select Eclipse.org update site in the 'Sites
to Visit' dialog and THEN click the 'Select Required' button, Update Manager
will select and install GEF too. If i don't select Eclipse update site, i
just get the error message.

thanks!
