I can't find one, but I thought I'd check before I write one: does Eclipse
provide a dialog for choosing graphical image files which displays the
images? Or is it possible to programmatically switch the mode of the
standard org.eclipse.swt.widgets.FileDialog so that the "Thumbnail" mode
is activated?

Thanks.

James,

You definitely won't find a thumbnails mode on the FileDialog, and I don't
think that eclipse currently offers an image chooser component for you to
reuse.
