yesterday I started to update installed plug-ins and had some problems...
some of which were related to network card.
Well today I closed eclipse and reloaded it and received a dialog box
indicating there were errors and that they were in a log file...
History of problem... when I try to update, it would get to verifying
packages, and sometimes would stop, and no network activity. then would
give an error saying that it could not download files... after several
attempts, the file would be downloaded and applied... (there were 3
updated plug-ins, processing them one at a time...) will, the last plug-in
was downloading and installing... the computer locked up and had no choice
but to reset it... and now eclipse will not run.
Eclipse version 3.0
Log file below attached

Eclipse won't be able to start up if some of the files that you've downloaded are toast. It looks like one of your JARs downloaded incompletly, and thus didn't extract all files (including the necessary plugin.xml/fragment.xml).
You could try getting rid of all of the 'new' plugins that you downloaded, so taht you can re-start eclipse. Of course, you might find it easier/safer to download the latest stable build, which will have all of those fixes in as well, and re-create your plugins/fragments folder.
If you want to try and rescue your current install, you should probably look through the fragments and plugins folders, and where there's a duplicate (e.g. org.eclipse.core-3.0.2 and org.eclipse.core-3.0.1) delete the higher version (assuming that your older version worked OK)
It looks like the failures are to do with downloading large files, and that's caused Eclipse to choke, rather than it being a problem with the update process per se.

ok, duplicates have been removed... and eclipse loads, will try to do the
updates and verify each before continuing the next one...
