Bundle Activator Invalid [message #289759] |

Greetings all.
Recently tried migrating from Eclipse 3.0 to 3.1. I've imported my plug-ins
from CVS, made some very minor changes to support Java 5, and tested them in
the run-time workbench. Works beautifully.
Now, tried exporting the projects as plug-ins and test them in a stand-alone
Eclipse 3.1 SDK. When I tried to load my plug-ins (open a preference page
for them), they error-out and the log reports a BundleException, activator
is invalid. Also, root cause is stated as ClassNotFoundException. No
matter if I try a new workspace or the "-clean" option, same issue.
Why do these plug-ins work fine in Eclipse 3.0, and fine in 3.1
runtime-workbench... but not when put in a standalone 3.1?
This seems to be mostly a problem with fragments. These plug-ins all had
associated fragments. When I would export the fragments with the parent
plug-in, I would get this failure. After converting the fragments to
plug-ins, no more problem. I would also see wierd, inconsistent PDE errors
regarding "indirectly referenced" dependencies when working with the
fragments. These errors would usually go away if I made unrelated changes
to the plugin.xml file (but come back later).
Any ideas?
Thanks,
