New perspective and menu not avaible [message #278775] Thu, 06 January 2005 18:16 Go to next message

Hi, there,
After new installation, if I run eclipse once before I copy my plugin to the
plugin folder my perpective and global menu are not available. If I copy my
plugin right after new install then run eclipse then everything works fine.
The workaround is to delete "eclipse\configuration\org.eclipse.osgi" folder
and restart eclipse.
What's the right way fix it without manully deleting files?
Thanks!!!
Jim

Run eclipse with -clean should work.

Peter,
Thanks for your reply. The question will be how can I enforce user to do
that in the production level. User may just assume it's not working if he
didn't use -clean option.
Thanks.

At production level, it is probably better you get the users to use the
Update Manager for installing and updating plugins. You just wrap the
plugins into a feature and provide that. (See
http://eclipse.org/articles/Article-Update/keeping-up-to-dat e.html ) The
Update Manager makes the necessary configuration changes so that you don't
need -clean.
