Hi,

I have been using Eclipse Platform 2.1 on Windows XP for a while now. I
am trying to understand how to upgrade to Eclipse Platform 3.0. In
Eclipse 2.0, using the menu Help --> Software Updates --> New Updates is
showing that "There are no new updates for the installed features." Is
there a way to upgrade, or do I just need to re-install the Eclipse
Platform 3.0 and then re-install all the features, like JDT 3.0? Does 3.0
have to be a new install, or can it be an upgrade from 2.1?

Here are my currently-installed features:

#Provider, Feature Name, Version, Feature Id
Eclipse.org, Eclipse Java Development Tools, 2.1.3, org.eclipse.jdt
Eclipse.org, Eclipse Platform, 2.1.3, org.eclipse.platform
Eclipse.org, Eclipse Platform (Windows), 2.1.3, org.eclipse.platform.win32
Rational Software, Rational ClearCase, 2.2.1.35, com.rational.clearcase

Thanks for your help.

The update manager won't upgrade from 2.1 to 3.0. You need to install a
new copy of 3.0, if you select the SDK drop of 3.0, you only need to
install the version of Rational ClearCase that works with Eclipse 3.0.
The other features that you listed are part of the 3.0 SDK.
