I wonder if you have plans to stay current with newer eclipse versions, like Mars.

Yes, SWTBot will continue to work in Mars. I think most of current
contributors are ready to keep on committing to make sure SWTBot works
with newer Eclipse releases.
Moreover, SWTBot will be integrated in the Mars release train, the main
Mars update-site and RCP/RAP package (
https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-rcp-and-rap-developers/marsm2
), so it has to comply to compatibility with other projects of the
release train.
