BIRT 2.2.1 birt.data plugin depends on datatools.connectivity.oda.profiles [message #257966] Thu, 11 October 2007 10:42 Go to next message

The org.eclipse.birt.data plugin now depends on
org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.oda.profiles which depends on
org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity which depends on
org.eclipse.core.resources and org.eclipse.core.expressions.

Currently we deploy org.eclipse.birt.data in our web server. With the above
dependencies, we are forced to also deploy org.eclipse.core.resources which
creates problems for us. Why was this dependency added and is it possible to
remove it?

The BIRT Data Engine (org.eclipse.birt.data ) is an ODA consumer that
supports the use of an externalized DTP connection profile. It therefore
requires the use of the oda.profile bundle and its corresponding
dependencies. It was a bug in BIRT 2.2 that the oda.profile dependency was
missing in the Data Engine's manifest, which would have runtime errors if
other components did not happen to have triggered its loading.
