F3 navigation: how to see what libs are missing? [message #257267]

I am having the same problem as reported here
http://dev.eclipse.org/newslists/news.eclipse.tools.jdt/msg2 3504.html

i.e. "Current text selection cannot be opened in an editor" when hitting
F3.

This is in my own code in Java Editor, no matter what method/class I try.
I too can open the class in Open Type... by giving it's name.
This happens even with JRE classes, to which source is attached.

I cannot see how this can be related to plug-ins, in any case I downloaded
eclipse and installed, so how can I know what is missing?

Did you check the Problems view for possible build path problems?

Try the below things on eclipse
window->preferences->general->Editors->FileAssociations
add the jad editor for *.class
add also check the editor for *.java. If it is not there add Java Editor for *.java

Try the below settings in General->Editors->File Associates tab
