Location awareness coming to Snipmatch [message #1417650] Fri, 05 September 2014 17:04
Eclipse UserFriend
Hi everybody,

we have a big new feature coming to Snipmatch in our next release.
Snipmatch will become location aware. Snippets are bound to a specific location at which they can be found.

index.php/fa/19067/0/

index.php/fa/19068/0/

This makes the search much more comfortable as only snippets are found that make sense at the current position. Available locations are:

File - Anywhere in a Java File (this is the same behavior as before)
Java - Anywhere in Java code, not in Javadoc
Java Statements - in statement blocks, i.e. method bodies
Java Type Members - in field declaration block
Javadoc - in Javadoc

You can give the new version a spin by installing Snipmatch from our head update site: http://download.eclipse.org/recommenders/updates/head

If you use your own snippet repository, you need to update it to be compatible with the new version.
The process is detailed in our Snippet Repository Update Guide.

Please let us know if you encounter any issues with this new version.
