Package Explorer is empty after "Go Into" and delete of this project [message #246883] Fri, 17 August 2007 04:59 Go to next message

Hello,

currently my package explorer is empty if I open a certain workspace and I'm
not able find a way to get it populated again.

What I did:

1.) I selected a project A and selected "Go Into"
2.) Somehow (I'm not able to reproduce / undo this) I made this perspective
the default one. So everytime I started Eclipse this view of "Go Intro" for
this specific project A was the default one. I always had to select "Up" to
get the "right" level.
3.) At some point I deleted project A.

Now the "Up" button is inactive and the package explorer is empty.

Any advice how to solve this? I did run eclipse with -clean but no result.

And in addition does anyone know how to set the "Go Into" to the default in
the package explorer? If I could reproduce this, I would like to open a bug
report.

Best regards, Lars

Lars,

I couldn't reproduce this behavior. The package explorer doesn't seem
to remember the "go into" value (with 3.3). The navigator does seem to
remember and gets slightly upset if I close Eclipse in the state where
it was focused on a deleted project and then start up again. But if I
create a new project, it shows that project. It seems odd either view
would stay in the state of being focused on a deleted project, so
perhaps that's worth opening a bug about...

Hi Ed,

thank you for your reply. I'm also using Eclipse 3.3

I opened Bug 200375 as suggested even though I assume it will be hard to
reproduce. I added also a screenshot in the bug report.

Best regards, Lars

Have you tried to reset the perspective from the Window menu?

Hi Dave,

thank you for the tip. Resetting did not help but based on your tip I closed
the perspective.

After closing all perspectives and re-opening the java one the package
explorer is displaying the elements again.

Thank you, Lars

P.S. I will update Bug 200375 accordingly.
