Customize 'Package explorer' [message #242595]

I am new to develop Eclipse plug-ins, and I want to make following
plug-ins.
1. include all functionality of 'Package explorer'
2. provide my own structural model for certain file which has 'abcd'
extension.

I tried to find way to extend 'Package explorer', but there isn't enough
explanation for that. If you have any example or explanation for that,
could you provide it to me ?
