Hello,
I'm using Eclipse 3.2.1 on Windows XP SP2.
In Eclipse I opened the Open File dialog to browse for a file. Suddendly
Eclipse died without warning. Now I cannot open my workspace. I tried
"exclipse.exe -clean", but that didn't help. I read some messages in
another newsgroup that said to delete some files in the workspace's
..metadata folder. They didn't say which files, so I don't want to randomly
try deleting files.
Other than recreating my workspace from scratch, yuk!, are there are
options?
Oh, I discovered that the java.io.* classes allow file path names longer the
Win32 path max length and the files created and read okay as long as Java is
being used. I think that might have been the cause of the crash because my
customer saves files with very deep paths and very descriptive folder & file
names when using my Java application.
I checked the workspace .log file:

Please provide more details about what happens when you try to start
Eclipse and select that workspace.
