Hello,
Could it be possible to have a workbench mode similar to a Smalltalk
image, ie the ability not to have a window per workbench , but each view,
editor, ... being a window, the whole constituting the workbench.
Persoanly, as foermer smalltalker, this capability to put views/editor
wherever I want (and howmany I want) is veyr missing...
regards
Xavier

You're talking about "detached" views, and it is not currently supported
very well.
Here's a feature request about it:
<https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=13585>

Vote for it and/or add your own comments.

Yes, it is the detached view/editor capability ... I'm going to vote right
away ;)
Yes of course we can open as many workbench as we want, but it is not the
same feature because of a workbench is a whole , ie another process(or
thread) I mean...
Detached views are more common for the experimented users...

No, he meant open another workbench window of the same workbench. That
would share the same process and workspace. Go to Window->New Window.
