I am new, using Linux fedora core 6 and installed eclipse 3.2.2 with
package manager. it is working and I can see all tutorials and help etc.
after then, I made an update by using eclipse - help - find and install.
Now, I cannot see any tutorial or help. thanks to help that telling me how
to update the eclipse.
the error is "HTTP Status 503 - Servlet
org.eclipse.help.internal.webapp.jsp.index_jsp is currently unavailable" I
do not know what it means and how to solve it.
I made search on the net by using Google and a few explanations are exist,
which has no meaning for me:
"Error when attempting to view Rational Method Composer Help
Technote (FAQ)
Problem
When attempting to view the Help and Tutorials in Rational® Method
Composer 7.0 (RMC) you might see an HTTP Status 503 - Servlet
org.eclipse.help.internal.webapp.jsp.index_jsp is currently unavailable
error, and when attempting to view the help and tutorials in Rational
Method Composer 7.0.1 you might see a Page Cannot Be Found error.
Cause
The Help system in RMC is served by a local instance of the Apache Tomcat
Web server. Both error messages can result when the Web server fails to
start. By default, the local instance appends the CLASSPATH environment
entries to its CLASSPATH and other entries in the CLASSPATH are
interfering with the launching of the local instance.
Solution
The solution to this problem is to insulate RMC from the other CLASSPATH
entries.
Add an empty CLASSPATH definition (a -classpath entry with a space) by
appending the following two lines at the end of the rmc.ini file:
-classpath
<put_a_space_character_here>
The default location of the rmc.ini file
for 7.0, is C:\Program Files\IBM\RMC7.0
for 7.0.1, is C:\Program Files\IBM\RMC7.0.1
This will only impact the Java Virtual Machine in which RMC runs, and will
not impact the existing environment."
this solution is for windows OS. in case, I searched that there is no
"rmc.ini" file in FC6. what will be the equivalent of it in Linux?
secondly, as a normal user, I uninstalled and reinstalled the eclipse, but
nothing has changed. And now writing my first thread, very exciting :-)
Is there any body who faced with this error before or knows how to solve
it and of course what to help me?
Thanks for every kind of help, volkan.
