There is a big community of users online on Eclipse website/forums. Similarly, there is a large community on the IRC. How about connecting the users on both platforms? Look at the current method of connecting to webIRC (http://wiki.eclipse.org/IRC) Like really? We expect users to go through a process to join the community chat.

Lets take away the steps involved and embed a chat - (I might suggest scrollback.io) Like we are using at Mozillaindia.org

It integrates seamlessly with the website and has greatly helped our mozilla community.

Would look forward to feedbacks and opinion of other members.

I like the idea of implementing chatroom-style functionality. Could you open a bug against Community > Forums to kickstart the idea?
