I was unable to select a Connection Profile on the New Data Source =

To create or edit a connection profile store, use the DTP Data Source
Explorer, whose plugin is included in BIRT's download zip.
To bring it up, use Windows -> Show View -> Other ... -> in dialog,
select "Connectivity" / "Data Source Explorer".
