Getting window positions to stick in a perspective [message #187361] Fri, 09 March 2007 01:52

Folks:

Using Eclipse 3.3M5 and CDT 4.0.0M5. Linux Centos 4.

(But I seem to get same problem with Eclipse 3.3M4 and CDT 4.0.0M4)

In each perspective (C/C++ and Debug) I have various eclipse windows
undocked and spread over two monitors (though I can arrange them on one
monitor with the same problems).

When I switch between perspectives, the windows randomly do not return to
their manually set positions. Instead, if I switch back and forth, first
one, then another, pile up in the middle of the main window. I can drag them
back to the desired location, but they don't stay.

Puzzlingly, if I select Window > Reset Perspective (and OK the dialog), the
windows jump to the desired positions?

Anybody else seeing this same aggravating behavior?

(Similar question previously posted to eclipse.platform, but it occured to
me this may be CDT-specific and in any case CDT users are more likely to be
jumping to the latest everything!)
