Is "ctags" no longer supported in CDT v3.1? I am only able to select
between Fast and Full in the index options. With my source build tree
having 46.000+ files Fast is still painfully slow, i.e. in the region of
2+ hours

Yes, it was removed since we didn't have enough people working on the
indexer in 3.1 to make it work in the new indexer architecture. Sorry,
but we do what we can with what we have. But the good news is that the
Fast indexer is much faster than the Full indexer and much more useful
than the ctags indexer could ever be.
