hi all,

i've found a fair bit of writing on _how_ to add extension-point entries
to my plugin.xml for enabling my own code to be extended, but what i've
not seen is anything which goes into the philosophy of _what_, _why_ or
_when_ to extend.

does anyone have any peals of wizdom, or know if there are any advice
docs out there, or even if any of the eclipse books cover this?
