cvs - no modules in HEAD [message #164350] |

I'm using the latest CVS (1.12.2) on my linux server, and Eclipse 3M5 on my
windows box. When I try to access my repository on the linux box with the
cvs repository perspective, using extssh, it seems to work just fine except
that no modules show up under HEAD. Commandline CVS and Cervisia on my KDE
box work just fine. I was running CVS 1.11.5 a few minutes ago, but that
didn't work either.
Help? Advice?
Thanks!

Well, I tried it with Eclipse 2.1.2, and it pops up a dialog box:
The server reported an error: No such file or directory
: Cannot access /var/lib/cvs/CVSROOT
In a log file, I found the following:
!ENTRY org.eclipse.team.cvs.core 2 -22 Dec 02, 2003 12:15:04.250
!MESSAGE Unable to determine server version. Host '[HOSTNAME DELETED]' does
not support the 'cvs version' command. Although most functionality works,
use version 1.11.1p1 or later for full support.
Since I'm using the most recent version of CVS (1.12.2), I have no idea what
do do next.
Suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I find it odd that the CVS version 1.12.2 does not support the version
command. I could not find anything in the CVS documentation indicating
that the command has been removed. If you want to help narrow down the
problem, you can follow the steps at the following URL:
http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/index.cgi/%7Echeckout%7E/plat form-vcm-home/docs/online/cvs_features2.0/cvs-faq.html#misc_ 0
This will create a trace of the protocol. If you attach it to a bug
report, we can determine why it is failing.
