| JDT AND CDT merging [message #1254] | Fri, 05 July 2002 03:30 | |
| Eclipse User | | | | | Hello, I would suggest the following feature ; be able to use some features of
the CDT in the JDT. The purpose of this request is to be able to make
easily Java native Interface generation, and testing inside the JDT. It
could also useful to be able to read a .dll or .so according the OS and to
generate automatically java code with native methods. Up to now I consider
the integration of Java with the envrionment as a big lack . This feature
 would simplify this integration

I am not sure merging JDT and CDT plug-ins would help much for JNI
 development.

But I agree that there should be a joint effort between JDT and CDT teams to
make sure that, for example, debugging a Java application with JNI calls to
a C++ one ; or debugging a C++ application calling Java code using the
 opposite method will be possible.

When I step from a Java method to a C++ one, I want to see the CDT
 perspective,
 don't you ?

| Eclipse User | | | | | I'd like to go a step further. I would like to see a migration tool that facilitates moving from c/c++ to java. I.e., an integrated environment that
allows me too mix the two languages.
