Publishing a Report [message #158949] Sun, 07 May 2006 15:40 Go to next message

I have created my test.rptdesign report against an Access database, it
previews well in the report designer. I want to publish it; the file is
copied to the Tomcat report directory within the BIRT webapp, I type the
URL http://localhost:8080/birt/test.rptdesign but all that is displayed is
the mark-up, the page isn't rendered (Tomcat has been started).

I validate the HTML at http://validator.w3.org/ and it tells me there are
16 errors, principally there's no DOCTYPE. I look into this and I find out
I need a PHD to sort this out at
http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/vkraemer?entry=birt_and_gla ssfish.

Is it so difficult to publish a report? I don't want to and can't develop,
I just want to use the report designer application and publish the reports
I create.

Thanks for any assistance.

Paul,

What driver are you using to access Access?
Make sure that this driver has been copied to the WebApp.
In 2.0.1 this should be
Web Viewer Example\plugins\org.eclipse.birt.report.data.oda.jdbc\driver s
In 2.1 this should be
WebViewerExample\WEB-INF\platform\plugins\org.eclipse.birt.r eport.data.oda.jdbc_2.1.0.N20060430-1302\drivers

if you placed the rptdesing file in the report director within the BIRT
webapp,
you should use this URL to run the report

http://localhost:8080/birt/run?__report=Report\test.rptdesig n
or
http://localhost:8080/birt/frameset?__report=Report\test.rpt design

but above all you must copy the database driver to the
BIRT webapp\plugins\org.eclipse.birt.report.data.oda.jdbc\drivers .
