Odd behavior of labels when creating a new object [message #157747] Tue, 30 October 2007 14:06

For some attributes of my nodes I have defined labels which initially
read "<enter name>" or "<enter location>" etc. to signal what to enter
into these fields..

Now, when I create an object, the name field is immediately in
edit-mode, i.e. the name field is selected, the cursor is active and I
can directly enter its name into that field after clicking and placing
an object. This is exactly how I want it.

However, if I hit Enter after typing the name, then not the name that I
just entered, but the original label (i.e. the "<enter name>" string) is
displayed instead of the text that I just entered. If I re-select the
label, then the text I just entered previously shows up again (i.e. it
has apparently been properly captured and stored) and if I now hit enter
a second time then finally the text that I entered in the first place is
also displayed correctly.

This is not exactly what I would expect! Why is the value that I enter
not shown after the first "Enter"? Why does the label's default value
overrule the name that I enter (at least at first) while the "internal"
value is apparently properly set and stored? Do I need to do or set
anything to get these two properly synchronized?
