How can I select a rectangluar region in eclipse?
E.g. in the text below, I want to select BCFG:
ABCD
EFGH

Most better editors support this (e.g. some mode in emacs,
pressing alt in M$ VStudio) but I could not find this in
eclipse.

This is currently not possible. Check bugzilla for the corresponding
feature request.
