I have a text file (foo.html) within a project in my workspace. Someone has
sent me a modified version of the file, so the modified version is now
sitting in a directory on my hard disk, outside of the workspace.

I would like to compare the two. How do I do this, in Eclipse 3.2? I've
searched Help and the FAQ, as well as this newsgroup, and I'm sure the
answer is there somewhere but I can't seem to find it.

 Thanks!

 Hi Walter,

you can't do it directly as the support for external files is somewhat
minimal... You have the following choices:

 - copy the file into a different location in your workspace and compare
 the two files
 - replace your workspace copy with the external one and use compare with
.... local history to see the changes.
