Hello Everyone

I would like to know if there are still plans of getting WebDAV-support
back into Eclipse? There was a plugin for, I think it was, 3.1 but it
was dropped and not continued. I remeber there were already quite some
discussions about that. I am even not sure if this list is the right
place but since the onld plugin was from the Target Management Project
and, as far as I know, DSDP aims to provide protocols for TP I tried it
here :)

So, are there any plans of bringing WebDAV back to Eclipse? The old
plugin seemed to be fine (even with Team Explorer Integration).

WebDAV is used by some WCMS to provide access to the Online-Filesystem
(like SharePoint and, even more interesting, OpenCms) and it would be
very convinient to have it.

regards

Hi Marc,

See https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=185921 .

The old WebDAV plugin was under the Platform/Team's
"Target Management" component, which has nothing to do
with DSDP. It was discontinued quite some time ago.

I understand that the WebDAV code in that plugin never quite
followed the standards, therefore a Google Summer of Code project
in 2007 didn't use that plugin but relied on an Apache Library
for WebDAV support; that library, too, was discontinued in favor
of another Apache project (Jackrabbit), but the Summer of Code
student didn't adopt it.

Long story short, there is some demand for moving WebDAV
into the TM project (see the bug), but currently nobody
who's willing to do the work.

In the meantime, the "old" WebDAV plugin should still work,
and you can get to the Sources from CVS quite easily in case
you want to fix bugs in it yourself. For details, see
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=185925#c11

We can use the eclipse.dsdp.tm newsgroup or one of the bugs
for follow-up discussions.

Cheers,
